FULL-LIFECYCLE MICROGRID ADVISORY

From strategy, technology and capital to projects that deliver lasting value

Independent, full-lifecycle microgrid advisory across Asia Pacific for companies, developers, investors, lenders, governments and utilities. We place technical design, regulatory compliance, commercial structure, financing requirements and project execution within one decision framework.

Independent judgement

Recommendations are based on project objectives and evidence, without prescribing a particular vendor, product or financing solution.

Full lifecycle

Support extends from opportunity identification, feasibility and finance through procurement, construction, acceptance and operations.

Integrated disciplines

Engineering, policy, commercial, financial, contractual, environmental, social and delivery risks are assessed together.

Actionable outputs

Every analysis is tied to a decision, responsible party, next action and traceable deliverable.

WHO WE SERVE

Clients and typical requirements

Participants in the same microgrid project have different objectives. Owners focus on business continuity and total cost; developers on project rights and revenue; lenders on debt service and completion risk; public agencies must also ensure transparent procurement, social value and long-term service obligations.

Feasibility study, concept design, single-line diagram, equipment sizing, operating strategy, cost estimate and implementation recommendation

04COMMERCIAL & FINANCE

Commercial model and financing design

Convert measurable project value into revenue that can be contracted, settled and financed, while allocating each risk to the party best able to control it.

Principal activities
  • Compare self-investment, energy service, lease, PPA and concession structures
  • Quantify energy savings, resilience, capacity and market-service value
  • Cash flow, IRR, NPV, DSCR and sensitivity analysis
  • Capital structure, debt capacity and funding-gap analysis
  • Design ownership of revenues, environmental attributes and incentives
  • Review material contract terms and bankability
Typical deliverables

Financial model, commercial-structure report, investment memorandum, financing plan, risk-allocation matrix and investor materials

05TRANSACTION & DUE DILIGENCE

Transaction advisory and due diligence

For buyers, sellers, investors or lenders, independently verify assumptions, design, contracts, permits, models and execution capability so transactions rest on traceable evidence.

Principal activities
  • Technical, commercial, market and regulatory due diligence
  • Review generation, load, availability and remaining equipment life
  • Review EPC, O&M, PPA and interconnection agreements
  • Assess CAPEX, schedule, warranties, insurance and contingent liabilities

Red-flag report, full due-diligence report, model review, risk-pricing advice, closing conditions and remediation register

06PROCUREMENT & CONTRACTING

Procurement strategy and contracting

Select EPC, EPCM, multi-contract or energy-service procurement according to project risk and owner capability, then convert performance, interfaces, testing and commercial terms into competitive tender documents.

Principal activities
  • Procurement model, packaging and market sounding
  • Owner’s requirements, functional specifications and data interfaces
  • Bidder prequalification and tender documentation
  • Technical, commercial and lifecycle-cost evaluation

STAGE-GATE METHOD

Control development cost and risk through stage gates

International project development normally does not move directly to detailed design. Each phase first answers the most material questions and only releases the next investment after reaching an evidence threshold. An unresolvable licensing, technical, commercial or credit issue should pause or reshape the project.

G0

Opportunity established

Is the problem real, the boundary clear and the client willing to commit data and resources?

G1

Concept viable

Is there an implementable technical solution within safety, reliability and site constraints?

G2

Commercially viable

Is value measurable, contractable and settleable, with acceptable downside performance?

G3

Financeable

Do permits, contracts, risk allocation, insurance and cash flow meet investment or lending requirements?

G4

Buildable

Are design, supply chain, construction, interfaces and acceptance requirements locked down?

G5

Operable

Have people, processes, data, maintenance and optimisation capability been transferred and verified?

All material conclusions should carry an evidence grade: A—site measurement, executed agreement or written authority confirmation; B—client records, equipment data or official public data; C—industry benchmark or comparable project; D—unverified assumption. Models and decision papers must show which conclusions still depend on C or D evidence.

INDEPENDENT ROLES

Independent advisory roles in transactions and delivery

Owner’s engineer

Protects the owner’s requirements, technical baseline, interfaces, schedule, changes and acceptance criteria without replacing contractor design and construction responsibility.

Lender’s technical adviser

Independently assesses maturity, cost, programme, contracts and completion risk and continues reporting through drawdown and construction.

Buy-side or sell-side technical adviser

Reviews asset performance, remaining life, contracts, capital expenditure and contingent liabilities to inform valuation and transaction terms.

Independent engineer or certifier

Verifies milestones, test results, availability or performance under financing and project agreements while maintaining independence and traceable records.
